Program is a place to learn, but it is also a place to connect, explore interests, build relationships, and belong.
At Foundry 8:1:3, students experience a rich program day that includes academic learning alongside opportunities to create, move, collaborate, communicate, and engage with others. We want our students to develop genuine friendships; relationships that can grow beyond the classroom and, we hope, last well beyond their years at Foundry 8:1:3. Through adapted physical education, creative arts, social-emotional learning, peer activities, and experiences within the broader community, students discover new interests, strengthen relationships, and find meaningful ways to participate in program life.
Every student should have meaningful opportunities to contribute to their learning community.
At Foundry 8:1:3, students are encouraged to share their ideas, communicate their preferences, participate in group experiences, take on responsibilities, and celebrate accomplishments together. We create opportunities for students to be active members of their classrooms and program; not simply present, but heard, valued, and included.

Independence grows through opportunities to think, choose, problem-solve, and take responsibility.
Independence is developed systematically. Throughout the program day, students are encouraged to make choices, advocate for themselves, navigate routines, solve everyday challenges, and take an increasingly active role in their learning and program experience. As their skills and confidence grow, we create opportunities for students to do more for themselves and make more decisions for themselves; building the foundation for greater choice and independence beyond classroom.
